Our vet recommended we gave our 9 month, 5.1 lb kitten heartgard chewables. She loved it. However, within an hour, she became extremely agitated, disoriented, jumpy, clumsy to the point of bumping into things and very sleepy. She wouldn't eat, drink, or go near her litter box. Dispite her usual friendly disposition, she hid. She remained this way for around 5 hours. She is currently in my husband's lap, finally sleeping more peacefully than during the past five hours. It appears that she is coming out of it, we hope without lasting side effects. This is our first cat, and we were quite worried. Of course this occured on a Friday later in the day so most vets were closed for the weekend. After doing some research on the internet, we are concluding that her behavior these past several hours has been a result of the med. It has been quite a scary ordeal and not one I plan on repeating anytime soon. Ask questions and do some research prior to simply giving your cat the tasty med.
